Lidwien van de Ven: document in Fridericianum - Phases of an artwork
In her installation document (2007), van de Ven features photographs that have been taken over the past seven years. The artist presents her monumental photographs as digitally printed posters mounted directly onto the gallery walls. The sequence of works in the installation will be changed in the course of the one hundred days of the
documenta. After an average display period of 5-10 days, the posters will be painted white and new ones will be put up on top of them. This way the installation will be built up layer after layer, creating a new constellation of different images each time.
All the images can be seen in a smaller format in the corridor - the ones that have already been installed as well as those that are still to come. An overview of how these changes will take place can be found in the publication document, which is also part of the project and presents the photographs, enlarging some and providing additional texts in the context of the work.
The following documentation shows the different phases the installation has gone through up to now. Underneath the photographs you will find the dates they were installed.
